Credits for your degree or certificate may be earned through various alternate approaches, including credit for prior learning and professional certification.
Credit for Prior Learning
In some career tech programs, Chemeketa may award credit for documented knowledge and skills that apply to the program you’re enrolling in.
These may be skills you acquire through –
- Working
- On-the-job training
- Volunteer service
- Non-credit courses or workshops
- Individual study
- Homemaking
- Travel
There is a fee for each course assessed. Contact your advisor or counselor for more information.
Credit for Professional Certification
In some career tech programs, Chemeketa may award credit for certified professional career training.
You may earn credit for select program classes if you've received professional certification that meets learning outcomes. Some examples include:

Additional programs that may offer credit include:

- Emergency Medical Technology/Paramedic
- Nationally-certified paramedics may receive up to 40 credits for the Paramedic Certification and 10 credits for the EMT Basic.
